The core — seven things, nothing more
This is what every inventory buyer expects. If any one is missing, the product feels broken.
1. Products SKU, name, category, unit (pcs / kg / metre / box), cost price, selling price, current stock, reorder point, HSN code, supplier, photo. One screen, fast search, filter by category and supplier.
2. Stock in Purchases and returns inward. Date, supplier, quantity, unit cost, invoice reference, GST rate. This is where cost price gets updated.
3. Stock out Sales, dispatches, damages, samples. Date, quantity, channel, reference, customer name if there is one.
4. Adjustments The honest category. Damage, theft, expiry, counting error. Requires a reason — that field is what makes the audit trail worth anything.
5. Stock take Physical count against system count, with the difference shown and a one-tap “accept and adjust”. Every seller does this at least yearly and almost every tool makes it painful.
6. Suppliers Name, GSTIN, phone, address, and a running view of what you’ve bought from them.
7. Dashboard + low stock alert Total stock value, items below reorder point, top movers, dead stock (nothing sold in 90 days). Low stock is the single feature people open the app to check.
